The new school (across the street on the old baseball field) will be ready for use in March 09, with the old school to be torn down over the next couple of years.
Following the tour we all went to Gonpachi restaurant in Nishi Azabu. About a dozen or so classmates and wives attended the dinner. It was fantastic meeting all these old classmates for the first time in over 30 years. Even after all this time there was a very strong sense of friendship. Nick was honored with the presentation of a Class of 78 graduation ring - which was just incredibly humbling.
Dinner was excellent and we each took turns with little speeches covering what we had done over the last 30 years.
After dinner we wandered down toward Hiroo to a private room at a Karaoke bar. For a couple of hours we all sang hits from the '70s (of course) and had a great time.
It has been an extremely enriching experience to meet up with these old classmates. Over the next couple of weeks we have been invited to several private engagements, which of course we will attend with a high degree of anticipation.
