Today we headed back into the Ginza (after a somewhat slower start). There we picked up a stack of food - sweet rolls, cakes, cinnamon buns plus lots of bentos of various kinds. Ginza is just a short walk (via the Sony Building - which was pretty good - amazing technology) from the Imperial Palace. 147,000 photos later we had seen most of what the Palace had to offer and we headed over towards the Diet (Parliament) - another million photos there and then down to the Sankaido Building (where Dad's office used to be), up past the American Embassy (police everywhere) and the Hotel Okura (where we stayed for a week when we arrived in Japan in 1972 - no....not for this trip!) and on towards the Azabu Juban where we caught the train home again.
As soon as we got back Nick had to go to dialysis - well we think he went there - he went off for about 6 hours and returned at 9:30pm. While Nick was at dialysis everyone else skuttled off for dinner in an extremely posh restaurant just near the hotel - well.....it wasn't that posh, you had to buy a little ticket from a vending machine for whichever meal you wanted and then hand it to the man inside - you could choose to sit or stand for your meal - which was delivered within 45 seconds and (no doubt) devoured in about 7 more.
No photos tonight it is too late and it will take half the night to sort through that many - will post more tomorrow - off to meet Michiko (our exchange student) tomorrow. Happy Christmas to all!
