Along with the rest of Tokyo we decided that we would slip down to Yokohama for the day. we had no real idea what to expect (except lots of people - and we weren't let done in that department!). We walked a little way from the huge Yokohama station and found some excellent shops including a Daiei supermarket, a Tokkyu Hands Department store and another discount store Don Quixote (try saying that in Nihongo!). It was a beautiful warmish sunny day today. After spending the equivalent of the GDP of a small African country we bought some bentos from the supermarket and sat in a narrow laneway on the edge of a garden and lunched. A bit primitive but very tasty. A bit more shopping after lunch - lots of souvenirs etc - and we jumped the train (actually 3 trains) back to Tokyo (via Shinagawa and Shibuya). On the way back to the hotel we discovered a grog shop - funny we had not noticed it before - and bought some grog - pretty cheap too. After a brief rest (and drink) at the hotel we headed out to our favourite little soba shop (the one with the tickets) and had a (very) quick meal. We are tired (again) tonight after our day in the sun - so it will be early to bed.
