After 13 hours sleep (for Nick - Linda was up early to do the washing) we headed off again to the place which cannot be spoken about (bagel shop). After gorging ourselves on Roppongi's finest we headed off to Shinjuku Gyoen (Park) so the kids could let off steam and we were hoping to see some young women in Kimono for Coming of Age (20) day. After paying to get in (which was a little surprising) we were then confronted by a large sign that read.......no balls, no bikes, no dogs, no kites, no games, no music, no busking, no sports and no fun at all (actually I made up that last one). Undeterred by the sign and far away from prying eyes the kids went completely wild with a single frisbee. After an hour or so of this we wandered through the park admiring the beautiful (but colorless) gardens. It was cold....the forecast had been for snow and the clouds were heavy. Having had as much fun as we possibly could we wandered over to Shinjuku where after a quick visit to Isetan to check out the kimonos for sale we had an excellent lunch in a small restaurant down a side street. A bit more wandering after lunch through Kabuki Cho (where all the 'gentlemens' clubs are) and we headed our separate ways. Nick to dialysis and Linda & the kids back to the hotel (mainly to warm up). Later in the arvo Linda and Maddie went back to Fabric Town (Nippori) which is about 400 stations across town by train, only to find that being a public holiday all the shops were shut (suffer in ya jocks!)
Tomorrow, weather permitting - although the skies are now clear - we will head to Kitchen Town (Kappabashi), Guitar Town (Ochanomizu) and back to Electric Town (Akihabara). And finally tomorrow night Linda and Nick are going out to dinner with some of Nick's old school friends.
